If you meet all of the above requirements, then we have the perfect SEN teaching role for you.

With just two weeks left to go before the end of this school term, London Teaching Pool (TLTP) are working closely, this summer, with both mainstream and special needs schools to appoint hardworking and motivated SEN teachers for this September. 

SEN teachers offer additional support and guidance to students struggling with emotional, physical and learning difficulties. They are relied upon to facilitate a child's learning and personal growth in the classroom. SEN teachers are responsible for promoting a caring environment and enabling students to achieve the best of their abilities. 

SEN Teacher key responsibilities:

  • As an SEN teacher, you will be expected to teach students on the national curriculum
  • An SEN teacher must create and deliver lesson plans that is fun, engaging and motivates pupils with special needs
  • It is essential that SEN teachers evaluate students' learning progression and provide feedback
  • An SEN teacher must make use of the special technologies available to inspire children to focus and learn
  • Your role as an SEN teacher will see you working collaboratively with the classroom teacher, in order to generate new ways to spark students' interest
  • Help contribute to the effective running of the classroom by being attentive and patient in the handling of children with special needs
  • Closely monitor students' behaviour in the classroom and resolve any outbursts with care
  • Report back to parents and guardians on the student's progression in a classroom setting
  • Be actively involved in any organised trips outside of school and ensure the safety of the students
  • Integrate both conventional and unconventional style of learning to secure the students' concentration in class
The SEN Teacher will hold the following skills and experience:
  • A ‘can do' approach to teaching
  • SEN teachers must be patient, attentive and compassionate with special needs children
  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to working and improving the learning culture of a child with special needs
  • You will be expected to be flexible and be open to adapt to changes in the classroom
  • You must possess a great sense of humour alongside a bubbly and optimistic outlook
  • Capable of promoting positivity in the classroom and helping young pupils reach their full potential
  • Capable of applying excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to establish a trusting relationship with both pupils and parents
  • A Special Education Needs teacher must have the ability to handle, effectively, any confrontations or challenging behaviour
  • Must hold a valid TeamTeach Qualification
  • Must display a valid DBS and right to work in the UK
