Located in the greenery of Much Hadham in Hertfordshire is a highly reputable and successful special needs school who provide education, care and medical support for people of all ages who have epilepsy and various complex needs.

 

The school are seeking to appoint several Learning Support Assistants to join their team immediately on a part time, full-time and supply basis on a temp-perm contract. The school are keen to help develop those who show the desire to succeed and offer a highly rewarding package for those who become permanent.

 

The school is situated north of London in Hertfordshire between Bishop's Stortford, Ware and Harlow. On-site car parking is available and it is within easy reach of the M25, M11 and A10 as well as London train links from Liverpool Street to Bishop's Stortford and Harlow.

 

Purpose of the Learning Support Assistant role

 

You will be expected to demonstrate a willingness to support pupils/students who can display challenging behaviours and help to manage this in a positive way. You will need to have good literacy and numeracy skills and be able to communicate well with both children and adults. A commitment to equality and diversity, safeguarding and upholding the values and ethos of the school is essential

 

Your responsibilities as a Learning Support Assistant will include:

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of individual education/behaviour plans & personal care programmes
  • Helping to provide a specific and targeted curriculum through various strategies both in and out of the classroom
  • Supporting pupils/students to achieve learning goals
  • Promoting independence
  • Preparing, maintaining & using resources/equipment to meet lesson plans

To be successful as a Learning Support Assistant, you will be required to have the following.

  • Strive to meet the needs of the children and young people with respect for their individual rights and personal dignity
  • Have good practice principles and values such as confidentiality, anti-discriminatory practice and the rights of individuals to personal beliefs, identity and choice
  • Work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service, such as is commensurate with the grade
  • Some SEN experience or understanding would be beneficial, however a willingness to learn and keen interest in care/support for SEN students will be considered
