A fantastic opportunity has come about with one of our clients to join their expanding well-established team of teachers and teaching assistants. This school specialise in teaching children with moderate learning difficulties and they are looking for someone who has experience of previously working within SEN to come on board and assist with the teaching of children who suffer from Autism, Asperger’s syndrome and speech/language/communication difficulties.
The role will involve, but not be limited to, the following:-
Assisting in delivering lesson plans alongside teachers on a one-to-one or small group basis
Preparing learning materials in the best way to encourage learning for children with moderate learning difficulties
Responsible for carrying out child’s care plan
Ensuring children are encouraged to communicate
Provide level of attention appropriate to pupil’s needs, modifying approach to ensure that desired outcomes are achieved
Previous experience of working within SEN
An interest, motivation and passion for working with special needs children and developing skills to facilitate this
A general understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum
Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within this
A high level of professionalism and the ability to distinguish personal and professional boundaries in school related relationships both in and outside of the school
