I am currently looking for an ASD Teaching assistant to work in a private ASD school, in Camden.
You will need to have SEN/ASD experience and be able to start ASAP. This is a co-educational day school for primary and secondary age children with moderate to complex learning difficulties, including those on the Autistic Spectrum. They cater for children aged from 5 years to 16 years of age.
The school is easy to commute to on public transport, with the nearest station in walking distance.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Vice Principal Primary/Secondary
To work with teachers and other pupil support staff to support the learning of pupils (primary and/or secondary) on an individual and small group basis.
YOU WILL NEED;
A general understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum
Some knowledge and skills relating to strategies in working with pupils with Complex Learning Needs
An interest, motivation and passion for working with special needs children and developing skills to facilitate this
Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
Calm, controlled and effective communication and relate well to all children and adults within the school
The ability to reflect on own behaviour to ensure teams are strong and working together to meet the needs of all pupils
Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within this
A high level of professionalism and the ability to distinguish personal and professional boundaries in school related relationships both in and outside of the school
To support individual pupils / small groups of pupils to be able to undertake successfully learning activities in and out of the classroom.
To support the ability of pupils to develop independent learning skills and improve their literacy and numeracy.
To promote positive behaviours amongst pupils in line with the schools’s ethos, vision and core values, and encourage them to exercise their own self-discipline.
To support the use of ICT in learning and help develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.
To participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities with teachers and senior / higher level pupil support staff colleagues and provide feedback on pupil progress and behaviour.
To help contribute to the assessment target setting, monitoring and review of pupils and their Personal Learning Plans (PLPs).
To participate in the school’s Performance Management process and in training and development opportunities.
