Secondary Teachers


Secondary Teachers in the field of Mathematics, English, Sciences, Humanities, Business Studies, IT, RE, Modern Foreign Languages and many more are required for various schools across all areas of rural Essex.

We are working with a number of secondary schools across rural Essex for daily supply, short and long term and permanent roles. The schools range from Ofsted rated ‘outstanding’ and ‘good’ and support opportunities for career progression.

A variety of roles are available for newly qualified teachers, experienced teachers and senior leaders, which offer competitive rates of pay that is in-line with the MPS / UPS Main Teachers’ Pay Scale.

Secondary Teacher duties include:

  • Secondary Teachers must prepare and deliver lessons to a range of classes of different ages and abilities
  • Secondary Teachers must mark work, give appropriate feedback and maintain records of pupil’s progress and development
  • Researching new topic areas, maintaining up-to- date subject knowledge, devising and writing new curriculum materials is a must
  • Secondary Teachers must select and use a range of different learning resources and equipment, including podcasts and interactive whiteboards
  • Supervising and supporting the work of teaching assistants, trainee teachers and newly qualified teachers (NQTs)
  • Secondary Teachers will need to participate and organise extracurricular activities, such as outings, social activities and sporting events
  • Undergoing regular observations and participating in regular in-service training as part of continuing professional development (CPD) may be required for Secondary Teachers.

A secondary school teacher must keep up to date with developments in their subject area, new resources, methods and national objectives.

Secondary Teacher person specification

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Key Stage 3 and 4 National Curriculum with some classroom experience as well as the following attributes:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a UK recognised equivalent teaching qualification
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Strong track record of raising levels of achievement and motivation
  • Ability to build strong relationships with children and parents
  • Support pupils to make progress through providing personalised experiences
  • Establish a safe and purposeful working atmosphere that supports learning and in which students feel secure and confident
  • Ability to use an imaginative range of teaching strategies to promote high expectations and high levels of challenge in the classroom
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be passionate and energetic
  • A commitment to working collaboratively within the faculty
  • A valid DBS
  • The right to work in the UK
  • A minimum of two references
