TLTP are looking for an enthusiastic and committed full-time Occupational Therapist to join our successful therapy team at an Independent inclusive school based in South-East London.

You will be working with children in Nursery/Pre-School (if required) ages 2- 5 years of age but the majority of the work will be with the Senior School and College supporting pupils aged 11-24 years of age with additional needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, MLD, DCD, Downs Syndrome, cerebral palsy and physical impairment.

The role includes carrying out OT assessments/reviews and providing programmes, advice and intervention targeting a range of paediatric motor, perceptual, sensory and functional difficulties. This will be based within the school Therapy Centre in a separate fully resourced OT room.

About The School:

This school has a strong inclusive ethos and has received NAS Accreditation for the outstanding support we provide our students who have Autism.

The therapy team consists of Speech and Language Therapists, Literacy and Dyslexia specialists, a Counsellor and a School Nurse who work closely together as an all-round Multidisciplinary therapeutic team to meet the needs of our students. The class sizes are small, with approximately 6-12 pupils per class, which contributes to an effective learning provision. We feel it is important that our therapists are fully integrated into the school setting and are the heart of the school.

There are many opportunities for CPD through internal and external training.

Context and Job Purpose:

The Occupational Therapist under the direction of the Director of SEN is responsible for providing frequent training, weekly updates on students and participate in weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings with members from the SEND, Middle Leadership Team and Senior Leadership team.

You will promote efficient and effective strategy and leadership as well as being well verse in the School's Inclusion Policy to ensure that pupils with special educational needs are able to be fully included in all aspects of the school regardless of SEN or disability.

The Occupational Therapist will also provide professional guidance to colleagues throughout the school in order to secure the highest quality of therapy input and implement the effective use of resources and interventions to bring about improved standards of achievement of all SEN pupils.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Management and Organisation

- Assessment and observation of children with EHCP's, privately funded pupils or children referred to the service from within the school.

- Planning and writing appropriate child-centred therapy programmes

- Delivering group and individual therapy as required, and integrating therapy into the class rooms and curriculum

- Providing advice and therapy programmes to teaching staff and LSA's, parents and other health professionals

- Assessing and evaluating therapy outcomes, and contributing to Annual Review meetings via reports. Attendance as required

- To care for and maintain equipment ensuring standards of infection control and Health and Safety requirements are maintained.

- To attend regular CPD and SIGs to increase knowledge and enhance professional development

- Participate in classroom support and observation to enable continual high level of support for all pupils

- To engage and take part in weekly duties

- Deliver highly quality training and CPD to staff on their specific therapeutic area

- Implement and run break time and lunchtime groups to support with building motor needs, supporting sensory needs and engaging in practical tasks
