Description

Head of English – Waltham Forest

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of English to lead our English department in Waltham Forest. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated leader with a strong vision for teaching and learning, who can drive high standards and support both staff and students to achieve excellence.

Location: Waltham Forest
Start Date: April
Position: Full-time
Pay: Outer London pay scale (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English department

  • Deliver high-quality English teaching across key stages

  • Support, mentor, and manage English teaching staff

  • Monitor progress, attainment, and curriculum planning

  • Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Proven experience teaching English

  • Leadership or management experience within an English department preferred

  • Strong organisational and communication skills
