A specialist SEMH school in Bishop’s Stortford is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teacher to join their team in a school-based and outreach capacity. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher with experience supporting young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, SEBD, EBD, or ASD, particularly those who may display challenging behaviours.

This role also includes outreach teaching support, working with students off-site, in the community, or at alternative settings as required.
About the Role
As an SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the individual learning, emotional, and behavioural needs of students.
This is a dual role, combining classroom teaching within the school with outreach work, where you may be required to travel to support and teach students at home, in the community, or in other educational settings to help maintain educational engagement and progress.
You will work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and wider support staff to implement personalised learning plans and tailored interventions that promote both academic and personal development.

- Building strong and trusting relationships with students, families, and staff
- Monitoring, assessing, and recording student progress
- Contributing to EHCP targets, individual education plans, and behaviour strategies
- Working collaboratively with external professionals, including social workers, educational psychologists, and therapists
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching students with SEMH, EBD, SEBD, ASD, or additional needs
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Experience in secondary, SEN, specialist, or alternative provision settings
- The ability to engage students who may be disengaged from mainstream education
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential for this outreach role
- Experience writing reports, progress reviews, and contributing to EHCPs
- Team Teach or MAPA training (desirable but not essential)
- A current Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service

- A supportive and experienced leadership and pastoral team
- Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
- A chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable young people
