Nurture Teacher needed for an SEMH School
TLTP are looking for a qualified and passionate Nurture Teacher to work full-time at an SEMH School.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with secondary pupils across KS3, KS4 and KS5, particularly students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
The setting is a specialist provision based in Harlow, supporting pupils who are unable to attend mainstream school due to behavioural challenges and additional emotional needs. This provision offers a safe, structured, and supportive environment where students can continue their education and work towards achieving their qualifications.
Many of the pupils have emotional and mental health needs. The main differences within this setting include:
- Reduced curriculum offer – the provision focuses on delivering core subjects
- Small class sizes, typically a maximum of 8–10 pupils, with additional TA support available in some classes
- A therapeutic and nurturing environment, with approaches designed to support pupils in accessing the curriculum
- No specialist mental health knowledge is required – the pupils primarily need high-quality teaching, consistency, and positive classroom support so they can achieve their GCSEs and move forward successfully
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term position within a rewarding and highly supportive educational setting.
The provision is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and compassionate Nurture Teacher to join their hardworking and dedicated team.
This role would suit someone who is committed to making a genuine difference in the lives of young people and who thrives in a setting where relationship-building is key.
Required skills:
- You must hold QTS or QTLS
- You will need to be committed to the development and progress of both yourself and the pupils in your class
- You must be able to deliver outstanding teaching and learning alongside a multi-disciplinary classroom team
- You must have a clear understanding of and commitment to safeguarding children
- Strong behaviour management and excellent communication skills are essential
The school offers:
- A committed and enthusiastic staff team and supportive governors
- Ongoing quality professional development
- An exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the provision and contribute to a culture of achievement and progress for all pupils
- A purposeful, happy, and supportive environment with learning at its centre
- The chance to make a real and lasting impact on students’ educational journeys
If you are able to engage students in a positive and supportive way, this will be a highly satisfying role that will also look excellent on your CV.
