Contract: Long-term, ongoing
Role: SEN Teaching AssistantAre you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a new long-term opportunity within a supportive primary school?
A welcoming primary school in Romford is looking for a confident and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team for an immediate start on a long-term basis.
This is a varied SEN support role working across the school. You will not be allocated exclusively to one child or year group; instead, you will work flexibly with pupils who require additional support across different areas of need.
The Role
- Providing targeted support to pupils with a range of SEN needs
- Supporting children across different year groups and classes
- Working with pupils who have ASD and behavioural needs
- Helping pupils to regulate their emotions and manage challenging behaviour
- Supporting learning, communication, social development and independence
- Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff
- Adapting your approach according to individual pupils and their needs
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive and nurturing school environment
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working within a primary school SEN setting
- Has strong, practical experience supporting children with ASD
- Has experience managing and responding to challenging behaviour
- Is confident working with a range of ages and needs
- Can build positive relationships with children who may present with complex needs
- Is calm, patient, resilient and consistent in their approach
- Can work effectively as part of a wider school team
- Is proactive and able to adapt to changing needs throughout the school day
