SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently looking for a caring and experienced SEN TA to join a welcoming primary school in Havering. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated SEN TA who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs, particularly pupils with ASD.

The successful SEN TA will work across the school, supporting a number of pupils with SEN and helping them to access learning, develop their confidence and build positive relationships with both staff and their peers.

As a SEN TA, you will provide a combination of 1:1 and small-group support, adapting your approach to suit the individual needs of each pupil. The school is looking for a SEN TA who understands that every child is different and can provide a patient, consistent and nurturing approach.

As a SEN TA, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required.
• Working alongside the class teacher and wider support team.
• Helping pupils to engage with their learning and develop independence.
• Supporting pupils with communication, social and emotional needs.
• Providing a calm and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Helping to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

About You

The school is looking for a SEN TA who:

• Has previous experience working with children with SEN.
• Has experience supporting pupils with ASD or autism.
• Is patient, caring and confident in their approach.
• Can adapt their support to meet individual needs.
• Is passionate about helping children reach their potential.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Is reliable and available for an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for a SEN TA looking for a long-term role within a supportive primary school in Havering. You will be working with a number of SEN pupils, gaining valuable experience while making a genuine difference to their day-to-day school experience.
