SEMH Teaching Assistant - The Role
This school is looking for an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support primary pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs within an alternative provision. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom.
You will work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them regulate emotions, manage behaviour, and engage with learning. The role will involve implementing behaviour support strategies, supporting during lessons, and building strong relationships with pupils to encourage progress and positive outcomes.
The ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant will be resilient, calm under pressure, and have previous experience working with challenging behaviour.
SEMH Teaching Assistant - The School
This is an alternative provision in North London supporting approximately 40–70 pupils aged 5–16. Pupils often have SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or have experienced exclusion from mainstream education. The school offers small class sizes and a highly supportive environment focused on re-engagement and emotional development. The provision is typically rated “Good” by Ofsted.
