We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join a specialist school in Princes Risborough (HP27), supporting students aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and a range of additional needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SENCO to lead effective SEND provision across the school, ensuring students receive appropriate support and that their individual needs and EHCP outcomes are effectively met.

About the Role

As SENCO, you will take a lead role in coordinating and developing SEND provision across the school. You will work closely with teaching staff, support staff, families, external professionals and senior leaders to ensure students receive high-quality, personalised support.

Key Responsibilities

As SENCO, you will:

• Lead and coordinate the school's SEND provision, ensuring high standards of support and inclusion.
• Oversee the identification, assessment and ongoing support of students with SEND.
• Manage and monitor EHCPs, ensuring outcomes and provision are effectively implemented and reviewed.
• Coordinate annual EHCP reviews and contribute to relevant assessments and documentation.
• Work closely with teachers and support staff to develop effective strategies and interventions for students.
• Provide advice, guidance and support to staff around SEND provision, differentiation and individual student needs.
• Monitor the progress, attainment and wider outcomes of students with SEND.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers, social care, educational psychologists, therapists and other external professionals.
• Ensure appropriate records and SEND documentation are maintained accurately and effectively.
• Support the development and implementation of individual learning plans and targeted interventions.
• Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, independence and emotional wellbeing across the school.
• Keep up to date with relevant SEND legislation, guidance and best practice.
• Contribute to whole-school development, policies, safeguarding and staff training.
• Advocate for students and ensure their individual needs remain at the centre of provision.

About You

The successful SENCO will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or complex needs.
• Experience in a SENCO, SEND leadership or significant SEND coordination role.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes.
• Experience working with students with SEMH and additional needs.
• Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
• The ability to advise and support teaching and support staff effectively.
• Strong knowledge of personalised provision, assessment and intervention.
• A collaborative approach to working with families and multidisciplinary professionals.
• A patient, calm, resilient and compassionate approach.
• A strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and improving outcomes for students with SEND.
